Jean Ann Marshall died Aug. 8, 2007, at St. Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver, Colo., after a brief illness.  She was 63 years old. 

Jean was born on Aug. 4, 1944, in Estelline, S.D. to Malvin H. and Helen R. (Appel) Schnoor.  She graduated from Watertown, S.D. High School in 1962.  She later returned to school and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1978, with a degree in Speech Pathology.

Jean was married to William "Bill" H. Marshall on Aug. 9, 1964, in Imperial.  To this union two children were born.  Jean was a speech pathologist for the Columbus Public School System, ESU 15 in Trenton and McCook Public Schools.

Jean was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Chapter X.  She volunteered for the bloodmobile and spent countless hours making costumes for the Southwest Nebraska Community Theatre.    She loved to travel including trips to Alaska and Padre Island, Texas to name a few.  She loved sewing, quilting, needlework, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Malvin and Helen Schnoor.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Marshall of McCook; son, Bill Marshall of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Dr. Monica and husband, Dr. Moses Shieh of Erie, Colo.; sister, Elaine and husband, Bob Jewell of Santa Barbara, Calif.; five grandchildren, Daniel, Melvin and Mary Marshall of Kearney and Marshall and Maxton Shieh of Erie, Colo.; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given to the Jean Marshall Scholarship Fund.  It will be an annual scholarship that will be awarded to a graduate student entering speech pathology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

A memorial service will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman and the Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating.
