ATWOOD -- Francis "Fran" G. Hatch, 87, died Tuesday (Aug. 7, 2007).

He was born June 4, 1920, at Blakeman, Kan., to Roy and Elva Hatch.

He served in the U.S. Army.

In 1941, he married Louise Wilkens. She preceded him in death in 1996. In 1998, he married Joan Deeds. He was a retired farmer-stockman who lived in Northwest Kansas most of his life. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan in Atwood since May 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Louise; and two brothers, Sam Hatch and Virgil Hatch.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Atwood; son Al and wife, Becky Hatch of Kinsley, Kan.; two daughters, Patsy and husband, Jim McClurg of Laramie, Wyo., and Rita and husband, Doug Zeman of Broken Arrow, Okla.; step-children, John and Darla Deeds, Daryl and Sherry (Deeds) Donahey, and Bret and Ginger (Deeds) Conley; two brothers, Wilbur and wife, Therese Hatch and Robert and wife, Shirley Hatch; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the Federated Church in McDonald, Kan., with the Rev. Greg Moyer officiating. Graveside services with military honors by Fort Riley, Kan., organization will be at the Grace Cemetery in McDonald.

Visitation is Friday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood and Saturday before the service at the church.

Memorials may be addressed in his name to the Antique Engines and Thresher Show in Bird City.
