Nov. 7, 1915 - April 16, 2007

STRATTON -- Esther Alvina Isaac died Monday (April 16, 2007) at El Dorado Manor in Trenton at the age of 91.

She was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Hitchcock County on a farm northwest of Culbertson, the third of four children born to Alexander and Kathrene (Weber) Kehler, and attended country school near her home in District 6.

Esther was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Church in Culbertson, Neb., and taught primary Sunday school for many years.

On March 16, 1936, Esther was united in marriage to William "Bill" Isaac at Trenton, Neb., and they made their home on a farm northwest of Trenton for more than 52 years.

After her marriage, Esther began attending the Church of God in Trenton, and in 1962, she became a member and attended Community United Methodist Church in Stratton.  This was her church home.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women since 1965, and was active in many other activities.

When her husband passed away, Esther moved from her home on the farm to Stratton so she could be closer to her church.

Preceding her in death are her parents Alexander and Kathrene Kehler; her husband, Bill in 1988; sisters, Marie Yost, Lila Laber, Ludella Frye; brothers, Albert Kehler, Rueben Kehler, William Kehler, and Kenneth Kehler.

Those left to mourn her passing include her daughter, Sandra Krause and husband, Raymond of Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa; sister, Lottie White of Oak Forest, Ill.; brother, Ray Kehler and wife, Eunice of Grand Island; sister-in-law and special friend, Lillian Kehler of Culbertson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special nephew, Alan Zastrow and family.

Esther had many special people in her life, starting shortly after her marriage to Bill, when his brother, John would stay with them.  She always held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, many of which lived with Esther and Bill for long periods of time.  Her great-nieces and nephews where like grandchildren to her, and she loved them all very much.

Visitation is today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Community United Methodist Church in Stratton.

A funeral service to commemorate Esther's life will be Friday at 10:30 a.m., at the church with Rev. Brian Fong and Rev. Randall Goeke officiating.  Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.

Memorials may be given in Esther's name.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton.
