CURTIS -- Ruby E. Hanes, 75, died Sunday (April 8, 2007), in Curtis.

She was born April 28, 1931, to William and Margaret (Fox) Wilson at Moorefield. She grew up seven miles south of Moorefield and attended the Boston Ridge Grade School. 

On Feb. 11, 1948, she married Leo Hanes at McCook. They farmed south of Moorefield for 34 years before moving to Curtis in 1994. 

She was a member of the Frontier Rebekah's of Stockville, the Neighoborhood Quilting Club and The Friendship Circle of Stockville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include husband of 59 years, Leo Hanes of Curtis; son Marvin and wife, Carol Hanes of Moorefield; three daughters, Beverly Lenz and Jim Johnston of Dallas, Texas; Linda and husband, Mel Armstrong of Elm Creek, and Donna and husband, Ray Bunnell of Juniata; a son-in-law Larry Lenz of Curtis ; sister Zella Mae Sanders of Gothenburg;a sister-in-law Geraldine Wilson of Stockville; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Rev. Kevin Burkhardt and Raymond Durner officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m. at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis.
