SIGNAL?MOUNTAIN, Tenn. -- Lawrence "Larry" A. Reiners, 66, died Monday (Feb, 12, 2007) after a long battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 15, 1940, to Lawrence and Florence Reiners in Indianola. He grew up in Indianola and graduated from the University of Nebraska.

In Junior College, he was the National Junior College discus champion. He began his career in insurance in Des Moines, Iowa and worked for various companies in Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and Florida before moving to Signal Mountain and going to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennesse.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, Health Insurance Underwriters Association, Chattanooga, Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club and served on the Mental Health Association board at one time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Florence Reiners.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet Panzer Reiners; daughters, Marti and husband, Tom Omberg and Lana and husband, Doug Fisher; brother, Kenneth Reiners; sister, Charlotte and husband, Ray Rantala; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1716 Anderson Pike, Signal Mountain at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. The family will greet guests after the Mass in the Parish Life Center.
