Martin Graff Jr., 90, died Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2007) at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln.

He was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Lincoln, to Martin and Marie (Moul) Graff, Sr. He moved with his family to Culbertson where he attended school.

He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 23, 1942, and served during World War II.  He was honorably discharged on Dec. 8, 1945.

On Aug. 31, 1940, he married Dorothy Weskamp in McCook.  He was employed by the Railway Express then for the Burlington Northern as a car inspector.  He transferred to Denver, Colo., in the early 1960s, moving his family to Denver in 1967.  He retired from the railroad in 1981, moving his family back to McCook in 1982.  

He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, McCook Elks Lodge and the VFW.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Martin and Marie Graff; two brothers, George and Fred Graff; seven sisters, Elizabeth Kohn, Marie Cappel, Anna Cappel, Minnie Welch, Rose Knuttie, Frieda Burgess and one in infancy; and son-in-law, David Michener.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Graff of McCook; three sons, Stanley M. Graff and wife, Diana of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth M. Graff and wife, Kathy of Denver, Colo., and Richard H. Graff and wife, Anita of McCook; one daughter, Verlene K. and husband, Steven Reed of Plano, Texas; two sisters, Katherine Ciochini of Hartford, Conn., and Pauline Munhenkle of Joplin, Mo.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be today until 5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. -- noon and Sunday 4 -- 8 p.m.  Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.
