STRATTON -- Mary E. Thompson, of Stratton, died at her family home in North Platte on Saturday (Jan. 6, 2007) at the age of 81.

She was born Sept. 14, 1925, to Arvol Dresden and Edith Fay (Gibson) Young near Mt. Home, Ark.

 In her teens, she moved to Memphis, Tenn., where she worked as a baby sitter.  She then moved to Nebraska and subsequently married Reuben Hasenauer on March 1, 1944, at Oberlin.  To this union six children were born.  She married Charles D. Thompson on Sept. 1, 1960, at North Platte and had two more children.

She worked at many jobs including employment at the Frontier Café and TRW.  She also ran the Conoco Café in Sutherland, as well as owning and operating Thompson Gifts, Crafts and Floral for 15 years.  She retired in 1998 and bought the motel in Stratton with her youngest daughter.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Arvol and Edith Young; husband, Charles Thompson; step-daughter, Marcia Williams; brothers, Frankie, Bill, and Jim Young; and one infant sister.

She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Garrison, Linda Ready and husband, Carvey all of Lincoln, Susan Thompson and husband, Steve Fennell of Buellton, Calif., and Sandra Thompson and partner, Shaney Clang of Stratton; sons, John Hasenauer and wife, Ronda, Chris Hasenauer and wife, Mary, Lyle Hasenauer and friend, Vickie Hansen all of North Platte, and Kenneth Hasenauer and wife, Jennifer of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Connie Gibson of Thermal, Calif., Fay Cornelias and husband, Ben of Grand Island, and Rosalie of Louisiana; brothers, Juilian Ray Young of Oklahoma; special friends, Carl and Cindy Schneider of Luthersville, Ga.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church in Stratton with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating.  Services will conclude at the church.  A private inurnment will be at a later date.

There will be no visitation or viewing.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be given in Mary's name to Great Plain Regional Medical Hospice, P.O. Box 1167, North Platte, NE  69103.
