NORTH?PLATTE?-- Christian Adam Jurgens, 88, died Tuesday (Jan. 2, 2007) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 17, 1918, to George and Emma (Waltemath) Jurgens. He was raised in Moorefield, graduating from Moorefield High School in 1935. He attended Teachers College in Kearney.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 10 years. Following his move to Los Angeles, Calif., he worked for O'Keefe and Merritt Co for 27 years.

He was a lifetime member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 985 in North Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Shirley of North Platte; two sons, William and wife, Sheryl Whipple of Lakeport, Calif., and Gary and wife, Carolyn Wirth of Bend, Ore.; one sister, Frances and husband, Marvin Greenwood of Wellfleet; two brothers, Glenn and wife, Beverly Jurgens and Porge and Betty Jurgens, both of Curtis; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. Terry Cook officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flower memorials may be given to the North Platte American Legion baseball team.
