OBERLIN -- Matilda L. Diederich 97, died Tuesday (Dec. 12, 2006) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

She was born June 20, 1909, in Dresden, Kan., to Jess and Jenny (Houstma) Harold. She grew up and attended school in Dresden.

On March 30, 1930, she married Charles Diederich in Seldon. They lived on farms near Selden and Oberlin, before moving north of Oberlin in 1994. She worked as a homemaker. She moved to Cedar Living Center in Oberlin in 2004.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Alter Society and the Nimble Fingers Unit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Jenny Harold; husband, Charles; one son, Jed Diederich; five brothers Bobby, Charles, Jess, Royce and Raymond Harold; two sisters, Agnes Schad and Lucille Schad; and a grandson, Jessie Diederich.

Survivors include four sons, Merlin and wife, Lola of Cape?Coral, Fla., Vernon and wife, Jeanette of Oberlin, Allen and wife, Sandra of Oberlin, and Leo of Dacona, Colo.; one daughter, Lois Jordan and husband, J.J. of Boulder, Colo.; and numerous grandchildren, great-granchildren and great-great-granchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Oberlin, with the Rev. Henry Saw Lone officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.

Memorials may be given in her name.
