Dickey L. Cook

OXFORD -- Dickey Lee Cook, 81, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 2006) at his residence in Oxford.
He was born April 20, 1925, at St. Francis, Kan., to Ross Theron and Carroll Georgia (Bear) Cook. The family moved to Oxford where they farmed. They later moved to McCook.
On Jan. 3, 1972, he entered the Mid Nebraska Individual Services family, and moved to Oxford, where he lived in several group homes. In 1992, he began living independently in his own apartment.
He worked at the Mid Nebraska Individual Services and did wood working and piece assembly.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1969, and his mother in 1987.
Survivors include his extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, with the Rev. Dave Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford.
Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8 p.m., at Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Mid Nebraska Individual Services Foundation.
