CLAY CENTER -- Larry G. Malone, 63, died Sunday (Sept. 17, 2006) at his home in Clay Center.

He was born May 11, 1943, in Orleans, to Willard Wilson and Opal Maxine (Niles) Malone. He attended Orleans Public School.

He worked as a lineman for the Rural Electric Association (REA) and then was a line superintendent for Clay County for 23 years in South Central Public Power District. He had more than 40 years experience in the electric industry, retiring in January 2001. He then began driving truck.

He was a member of the Clay Center Christian Church, Elks of Sidney, and volunteered his time with the Sidney Fire Department, when he lived there.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dale and Mike; and a brother, Randy Smith.

He is survived by two daughters, Carmen Holbrook and husband, Chad of Aurora, Colo., and Haley Sintek and husband Rob of Clay Center; two sons, Jim and Cole both of Clay Center; one sister, Diane Schluntz; and one brother, Gerald both of Orleans; his beloved friend Margaret Crawford of Clay Center; seven grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Trevor, Linize, Parker, Chaselyn and Cane.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Clay Center Christian Church with the Rev. John Green officiating. Burial will followed in the Clay Center Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Pallbearers are Allan Swenson, Tony Everson, Steve Johnson, Dennis Wademan, Marshal Burgmaier and Pete Dykema. The honorary pallbearer is South Central Public Power
