Florence L. Jeffers

WAUNETA -- Florence L. Jeffers, 85, died Monday(Aug. 21, 2006) at Chase County Hospital in Imperial.

She was born in Hayes County on Aug. 26, 1920, to Frank and Agnes (Schneider) Broz.  She graduated from St. Patrick's Academy in Sidney in 1938 and Kearney State College in 1972.

She married Charles Bailey Jeffers at Hayes Center on Feb. 17, 1942. 

She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Palisade and a lifetime member of the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes; husband, Charles (April 6, 1999); and brother Walter Broz.

Survivors include her son, Larry Jeffers of Wauneta; daughters, Janet Rucker and husband, Jerry of Arvada, Colo., Rita Steinke and husband, Don of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kathy Knepp of Auburn, Patty Laird and husband Scott of Hayes Center, Margaret Schuman and husband Neil of Littleton, Colo.; brothers, Vincent Broz and wife, Marg and Fran Broz all of McCook, LaVerne Broz and wife, Carol of Conroe, Texas; sister, Theresa Steiner of Wheatridge, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. (CDT) at St. James Catholic Church of Trenton, with the Rev. Valerian Bartek officiating. Burial will be in the Palisade Cemetery.

Visitation is today until the time of rosary. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
