IMPERIAL -- Irvin Johnson, 89, died Monday (Aug. 14, 2006) at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial.

He was born Oct. 20, 1916, to Hanise and Lily Johnson in Champion, where he spent his childhood.

On July 3, 1938, he married Verna Doris Cranwell. He worked on the Ernest Cranwell farm before purchasing a farm south of Lamar in 1946. He worked as a television and electronic technician and began his business in 1958. In 1976, he retired from farming and moved to Bella Vista, Ark., later moving to Rogers, Ark, in 1990. He moved back to Imperial in 1996 and entered into Imperial Manor in 1997.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Rogers, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Theda Bopp; and his wife, Verna.

Survivors include his two daughters, Donna Gibb of Imperial and Cynthia Hudgins and husband, Jack of Texarkana, Ark.; one son, Barry and wife, Sheila of North Platte; two sisters, Iona Peterson of Imperial and Eileen Phinney of Lincoln; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. (MT) at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial, with the Rev. Martin Harmon officiating.

Visitation is today from 2-5 p.m. at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Imperial Manor Nursing Home.
