BEAVER?CITY?--?Dean L. Bieghler, 91, died Sunday (Aug. 6, 2006) at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege.

He was born Oct. 22, 1914, at Beaver City to Harry and Mary Bess (Fleming) Bieghler. He graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1932 and joined the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

On Oct. 31, 1946, he married Velda Roberts in Norton, Kan. They lived west of Hendley until he retired from farming in 1975. They moved to Beaver City, where he was employed as a Utility Plant Operator for the City of Beaver City until 1984.

He was a life long resident of Furnas County and a member of the Hendley United Methodist Church and a member of the the American Legion Post at Wilsonville for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Venita and Dorothy; and one daughter-in-law, Cindy.

Survivors include his wife, Velda of Beaver City; one son, Rick of Beaver City; a daughter, Kay Spicklemier of Lincoln; five grandchidlren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Beaver City, with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, with military honors graveside by Chester A. Parsons Post No. 152 of Wilsonville.

Visitation is today from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Thursday at the church.
