OBERLIN -- Dale R. Carlisle, 84, died Wednesday (April 19, 2006) at his home in Oberlin.

He was born April 13, 2006, in Traer, Kan., to Arthur and Clara (Porterfield) Carlisle. He attended school in Traer through the ninth grade and graduated from Decatur Community High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Sept. 18, 1955, he married Edna Lenore Hochmeister. He was a grain elevator manager. The family lived in Traer for 44 years, before moving to Oberlin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore Carlisle; an infant sister, Lola Carlisle; and a sister, Lila Jones.

Survivors include a son, Roger and wife, Jane Carlisle of Cedar Bluffs; two daughters, Donna and husband, Tim Urban of Bentonville, Ark., and Cheryl and husband, Randy Thull of Victoria, Kan.; a brother, Donald and wife, Shirley Carlisle of Dewey, Az.; a sister Joye Trussell, St. Charles, Mo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Royce Leitner officiating. Interment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation wil be until 8 p.m., today and 8 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.
