M.Ruth (Sherwood) Warner

ARAPAHOE -- M. Ruth (Sherwood Wagner), 85, died Thursday (March 23, 2006) at C.A. Mues in Arapahoe.

She was born Jan. 30, 1921, at Hendley, to Edward C. and Salina (Galloway) Thayer.

She graduated from Hendley High School. She attended college at Kearney State Teacher's College. She taught school at Port Angeles, Wash., McCook and Oxford.

In September 1948, she married Edward Sherwood in Hendley. They made their home in Oxford, where Edward had an insurance and real estate business.

Edward died in October 1984. On Sept. 1, 2002, she married George Warner in Oxford. They made their residence in Beaver City. Her husband, George died on Dec. 16, 2003. She then moved to the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Assisted Living and Nursing Home in Arapahoe.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford. She was a past member of Oxford PEO and the Oxford Library Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Edward Sherwood and George Warner; and brothers Gilbert and John Robert Thayer.zzz

Survivors include a sister, Ruby E. Vertrees of Kearney; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia Thayer of Fremont, Donna Thayer of Arapahoe and Jeane Sherwood of Oxford.

Graveside services will be Monday, 1 p.m., at the Oxford Cemetery of Oxford with David Hunt officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe
