LINCOLN -- Kenneth Walter Sitzman, 78, died Monday (March 20, 2006) in St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island

He was born March 8, 1928 in Culbertson to Henry and Anna (Bauer) Sitzman.

He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1947.

He served in the U.S. Army serving from 1951 to 1952 as a medic in Korea.

He attended and graduatued from Milford Trade School in 1955 and moved to Lincoln in 1955. He worked as a body Mechanic at Rudy's Body Shop and DeBrown Body Shop for 25 years. He worked for the University of Nebraska - Lincoln motor pool for 11 years until retiring in 1993,

He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 3 and vice-commander in 1972. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post No. 131, 40 and Eight.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry Jr., and Harold; and sisters Lydia Propp, Marie McKnight, Martha Wheeler, Ruthie Carr, and infant sister Molly; and nephew, Jerry Fahrenbruch.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Georgene; a daughter, Lisa and husband, Dr. Loren Murfield of Odessa, Fla.; a sister, Emma and husband Alfred Fahrenbruch of Bertrand; and one grandson.

Funeral services are Saturday, 11 a.m., at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln with Dr. Loren O.Murfield officiating.

Burial will be in the Lincoln Park Cemetery.

Military services will be provided by the Nebraska Army National Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, and Friday, 9 a.m.,to 9 p.m. The family will be available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, and Saturday, 9 a.m. until the time of services, all at the funeral home.

Memorials may be left in care of the family.
