NORTON, Kan. -- Vernon O. Tanner, 100, of Norton, Kan., formerly of Beaver City, died Sunday ( March 19, 2006) at Andbe Home in Norton, Kan.

He was born Dec. 23, 1905, in Seward, to Leslie and Anna (Schultz) Tanner.

He grew up in the Burwell area and later moved to Cozad.

On June 12, 1949, he married Hethie Randall at Arapahoe. The couple farmed in the Precept area until 1958 when they moved to a farm south of Beaver City. In 1997, they moved to Norton to be near family. He moved to Andbe Home in 2005.

He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beaver City and transferred to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Norton in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dennis and Arlen; one brother, William; six sisters, Mary Grist, Lavina Frank, Viola Harvey, Anna Tanner, Leota Mountain and Roxie Berry.

Survivors include his wife, Hethie of Norton; a son, Steve Tanner and wife, Donna of Norton; a daughter, Marjorie and husband, Norman Kingham of Almena, Kan; two sisters, Ruby Remmington of Fort Collins, Colo., and Harriet Crowder of Ontario, Ore.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandcildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Friday, at Union Cemetery in rural Beaver City, with the Rev. Marion Miller officiating.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City
