Lyons, Plas wedding
Laura Lyons and Aaron Plas were united in marriage Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.
Parents of the couple are Philip and Diana Lyons of McCook, Jeff Plas of Ohio and Patty Phinney of McCook.
Grandparents of the couple are Phillys Lyons of McCook, Dorothy Wilson of Lincoln and Ann Plas and Robert and Dorothy Bechtel, all of Ohio.
Julia Lyons of McCook, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Kelly Plas of Lincoln, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, served as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Andrea Szwanek of Lincoln, cousin of the bride, Jaimee Morgan of Omaha and Jill Hansen and Erin Vanert, both of Lincoln. Jane Shield of McCook was the bride's personal attendant.
RJ Plas of Lincoln, brother of the bridegroom, served as the best man. Bridegroomsmen were Aaron Purvis of Lincoln, Rocky Esteraich of Kearney, Ben Klug of Hastings and Nic Petersen and Dylan Woods, both of Lincoln. Wardens to the bridegroom were Jeff and Robin Szwanek of Lincoln, uncle and aunt of the bride.
Riley Jo Sis of McCook and Delaney Jumps of Culbertson were the flowergirls. Sean Nelson and Baylor Winters, both of McCook, were the ring bearers. Candlelighters were Austen and Masen Sis of McCook. Ushers were Andy Dwyer, Doug Szwanek, cousin of the bride, Gable Baldwin and Jeremy McHugh, all of Lincoln.
Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Chris Lyons of McCook, brother of the bride, and soloists Jill Hansen and Adam Wolford, both of Lincoln.
A reception took place at the Red Willow Community Building. Kate Wolford of Lincoln was the guestbook attendant. Host couples were Tom and Deb Kaminski, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom, Greg and Pam Wolford and Marsh and Tracey Sis, all of McCook. Cake servers were Carol Dolan of California, Jayne Lyons of Massachusetts and Donna Lyons of Arizona, aunts of the bride, and Nancy Wulff of Ohio, aunt of the bridegroom. Fireworks were provided by Ken Allen and Paul Wood.
The bride is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in secondary science education. She is employed at the UNL Office of Admissions.
The bridegroom is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in business education. He is employed at the Highlands Golf Course is Lincoln.
The couple honeymooned with a weekend trip to Kansas City, Mo., immediately following the wedding. They are planning a week-long trip to Arizona during spring break.
They will make their home in Lincoln.
