STRATTON -- Daniel Lee Brockway, 59, died Saturday (Jan. 28, 2006) at his home in Stratton.

He was born April 19, 1946, at Lyons to Marion and Eva (Matson) Brockway. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1964.

He married Gladys Schademan on Jan. 22, 1966.

He worked in the grocery business, drove a truck, owned and operated a kennel and was a part-time school bus driver. He also operated a portable concession stand and Brock's Family Bar and Grill.

He was a volunteer EMT, a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton and was on the town board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Eva Brockway; his in-laws, Leo and Iona Gatzemeyer; one infant grandchild; brother in-law, Cliff Gatzemeyer; sister-in-law, LaVonne Brockway; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Brockway of Stratton; son, Corey Brockway of McCook; daughters, Carri Hall and husband, Greg of McCook, Candi Brennan of Stratton and Casha O'Byrne and husband, Danny of Trenton; brother, Marion "Bud" Brockway and wife, Susan of New Port Beach, Calif.; sister, Betty Baker of Corona, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Sharon Siebrandt and husband, Fred of Bancroft and Ellen Cornwell and husband, Dennis of Jenks, Okla.; five grandsons; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton with the Rev. Sean Redmond officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.

Rosary will be Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the church.
