Josephine E. Welborn

NORTON, Kan. -- Josephine E. Welborn, 85, died Tuesday (Jan. 3, 2006) at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kan.

She was born Jan. 19, 1920, to Ernest and Anna (Schmid) Hanni on a farm south of Hendley. She grew up in Hendley and attended country school.

On Jan. 18, 1946, she married Lauren Daffer. The couple made their home in Beaver City. He preceded her in death in 1959. She married Carl Welborn in Beaver City on Jan. 14, 1965. They moved to a farm near Lebanon in 1971. He preceded her in death in 2001.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Beaver City and the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW in Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.

Survivors include three children, Jay Dee and wife, Julia Daffer of Norton, Barry and wife, Karen Daffer of Holdrege and Pamela and husband, Lynn Menagh of Norton; two sisters, Ruth and husband, Lawrence Kentfield of Beaver City and Arlene Clawson of Holdrege; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Enfield Funeral Home in Norton. Interment will be Friday, 11:15 a.m., at the Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon.

Friends may call at the Enfield Funeral Home Thursday, 3-8:30 p.m.

Memorials are being accepted in her name.
