Mary Jane Lewis

Mary Jane Lewis, 66, died Thursday (Nov. 24, 2005) at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

She was born Dec. 3, 1938, in Keith County to Eddie and Laura Pankonin Uehling. She graduated from Perkins County High School in Grant in 1956. She became a registered nurse in 1959.

She worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook until her retirement in 1999.

Survivors include two sons, C.D. and wife, Darlene Lewis of Capitan, N.M., and Shane and wife, Donene Lewis of North Platte; two sisters, Claudetta Peck of McCook and Bonnie Johnston of Grant; two brothers, Bob Uehling and Dean Uehling, both of Grant; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her body was cremated, committal services will be Saturday, 1:30 p.m., at the Grant Cemetery with John Long officiating.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.
