GOODLAND, Kan. -- Gary Lee Spatz, 64, died Monday (Nov. 14, 2005) at the Goodland Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 29, 1941, in Madison to Raymond and Dorothy (Norris) Spatz. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1959. He attended agribusiness school in Lincoln.

He married Mary Olson on May 11, 1962, in Lincoln. The couple moved to Goodland in 1968. He worked for Model Laundry, Davis Implement and Frito Lay.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Good Sam Camping Club. He also coached Little League baseball and was a civil defense spotter.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters, Christine DeGraffenreid and Rebecca Schneider, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Steven and wife, Mindy of McCook; his father, Raymond of Plainview; three sisters, Charlene and husband, Rollie Huntley of Emerson, Lois Mosel of Ewing and Brenda and husband, Roger Henery of Plainview; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. MT, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Goodland. Interment will follow at the Goodland Cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects today, until 7 p.m., at the Bateman Funeral Home in Goodland.
