Letha Katherine Hofman died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at her residence at Willow Ridge in McCook at the age of 87.

She was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Norton County, the daughter of Edward George and Louise Ida (Braun) Wegener. She grew up in Norton County and was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Norton.

On April 19, 1938, Letha married Henry Hofman at Norton. They moved to the Ash Creek Community in Red Willow County, where they farmed. In 1978 they retired and moved to Bartley and moved to McCook in October 1991.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry on June 13, 1996, and by one sister, Iona Holste.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Ash Creek and the Ladies Guild.

Letha is survived by one son, Leonard Hofman; one daughter, Sheryl Havens and husband, John, all of McCook; four grandchildren, Christine Abney and husband, Bret of Kansas City, Mo., Dana Rye and husband, John of Leavenworth, Kan., Brock Ruggles of Mesa, Ariz., and Vanessa Ruggles of San Diego, Calif.; one great-granddaughter, Mercedes Abney. She is also survived by two brothers, Donald Wegener and wife, Norma and Virgil Wegener and wife, Evelyn, all of Norton; two sisters, Roberta Moore of Crete, Ill., and Mary Lou Wilner of Bloomington, Ill.; relatives; and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Church southeast of McCook with the Rev. Paul Warneke officiating. Interment will be in the Ash Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook, which is in charge of arrangements.
