ATWOOD -- Edward "Ed" Thomas Morton, 76, died Tuesday (Oct. 11, 2005) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

He was born July 6, 1929, to Thomas and Maude (Remmington) Morton on a farm west of Atwood. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1947.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley.

He married Margaret Ann Kacirek on Oct. 4, 1951, at the Sacred Heart Friary in Atwood.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Atwood Rotary Club, VFW No. 1368 of Herndon and the Elk's Lodge of McCook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marge; sister, Arlene and husband, Harold; his twin sister, Edna and husband, Kenneth.

Survivors include his children, Craig and Barbara Morton of Atwood, Shelly and Jim Brungardt of Hays, Kan., and Carla and Mike Starns of Independence, Kan.; sister, Nadine and husband, Robert Hawk of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Terry McGuire officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.

Visitation will be today, until 8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood and Friday, 9 a.m., at the church.

Memorials are being accepted in his name at the United Methodist Church and Choir of Atwood and the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

Williams Funeral Home of Atwood is in charge of arrangements.
