Filothea 'Flo' Frances Lorens

STRATTON -- Filothea "Flo" Frances Lorens, 86, died Monday (Sept. 12, 2005) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born on her family's farm in Rawlins County, Kan., to Theodore and Josephine (Chleborad) Kacirek. She graduated from high school in McDonald, Kan. She then attended beauty school in Denver, Colo.

On Oct. 15, 1946, she married Francis "Pat" V. Lorens at St. John's Parish in Kansas. The couple made their home on a farm south of Stratton.

After retiring from the farm, they moved to McCook. She spent the last 12 years at Willow Ridge.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, the St. Joseph's Altar Society and a project leader for 4-H.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Josephine Kacirek; her husband, Francis "Pat" Lorens; son, Gale Lorens; sister, Marjorie Morton; and in-laws, Mary Jo Kacirek, Louis and Lucille Wahrman, and Don Vrbas.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Arrick and husband, Tom of Denver, Shirley Hoelting and husband, Dave of Pender, Raylene Green and husband, Cameron of Pender, Kent Lorens and wife, Marilyn of Stratton; daughter-in-law, Elaine Johnston of Fairbanks, Alaska; brothers, Laddie Kacirek and wife, Vera of McDonald and Bernard Kacirek of Denver; in-laws, Ed Morton of Atwood, Loretta Sandberg and husband, Roland of Stratton, Rose Owens and husband, Jerry of McCook, Mary Lou Vrbas of Culbertson and Delores Huss and husband, Melvin of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the church with the Rev. Sean Redmond officiating. Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.

Rosary will be today, 7:30 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton.

She will lie in state today, 4-7 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton

Memorials are being accepted in her name.

Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton is in charge of arrangements.
