SCOTIA -- Tamra "Tammy" Kay Jess, 52, died Monday (Sept. 12, 2005) at her home.

She was born July 27, 1953, to Bill and Reita (Wright) Anderson in Sterling, Kan. She attended school in Lyons, Kan., and graduated from Hays High School in 1971. She attended Colby Community College in Colby, Kan., and later received her Certified Nurse's Aid training.

She was employed at nursing homes in Kansas and Nebraska, most recently in the Alzheimer's unit at the Prarie View Gardens in Kearney.

She had two sons from a previous marriage. In 2000, she married Rodney Jess of Kearney. The couple made their home in Kearney until recently moving to Scotia.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Survivors include husband, Rodney Jess of Scotia; two sons, Travis Shafer of Pocatello, Idaho, and Jason Shafer and special friend, Jill Ream of Kearney; her parents, Bill and Reita Anderson of Holdrege; two grandchildren; two sisters, Kathy Bamesberger and husband, Keith of Columbus and Kim Reiners and husband, Rick of Holdrege; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, with the Rev. Dr. Dan Mitchell officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are being accepted in her name. The Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements.
