Gladys Eileen (Kyte) Fikan

ATWOOD -- Gladys Eileen (Kyte) Fikan, 84, died Wednesday (July 27, 2005), at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.

She was born Feb. 27, 1921, to Donald Lester and Lela May (Minor) Kyte on the family farm southeast of McDonald. She attended country school and graduated from McDonald High School in 1938.

On May 12, 1940, she married Reno Fikan in Atwood. They made their home on the farm she grew up on until 2000 when she moved to Atwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reno in 2003; son, Lyle in 2004; three sisters and two brothers, one of whom was her twin.

Survivors include her son, Larry of Atwood; daughter-in-law, Jan Fikan of El Reno, Okla.; daughter, Lois and husband Ken Smith of Atwood; sister, Mary Pellegrini of Atwood; step-mother, Lyn and husband, Ike Eisenzimmer; a sister-in-law, Elaine Fikan of Atwood; a brother-in-law, Kermit and wife, Virginia Fikan of Englewood, Colo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Williams Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Terry McGuire officiating. Interment will follow at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery with fraternal rites by the Order of Eastern Star, Radiant Chapter No. 229 of Atwood.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and before the service Saturday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established.
