BISMARCK, Ark. -- Vance James Bond, 79, died Monday (July 4, 2005) at the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, Ark.

He was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Wetumka, Okla., to Joseph and Clara (Bonner) Bond.

He serviced in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was an oil field service tech.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the B.P.O. Elks and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; and one brother, Kenneth.

Survivors include his wife Joan Villines Bond; three sons, Jim and wife, Kristi Bond of Kearney, Joe and wife, Carmen Bond of McCook, and Gil and his wife Rae Gagnon of Calabasa, Calif.; two daughters, Renee and husband, Harold Lind of Tull, Ark., and Linda Gagnon and husband, Mike McIntee of Rescue, Calif.; one sister, Jeanette Carpenter of Duncan, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five cousins.

Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at Pleasant Hill Church of Christ with the Rev. Hollis Looper officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas State Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.
