IMPERIAL -- Arvin Duane Kurth, 66, died Sunday (May 22, 2005), in Imperial.

He was born Sept. 13, 1938 in Sidney to August Frederick William Kurth and Viola Louise Burke. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dalton. He attended Dalton public schools.

He married Iona Jean Kepler on May 2, 1958, in Dalton. He was employed by the Cheyenne County Highway Department and involved with the Dalton Fire Department, until moving to Imperial on Jan. 28, 1970. After moving to Imperial he was employed by the Road Department, Harris Construction, and at the time of retirement he was employed by the City of Imperial in the Utilities Department.

He married Janice Kay (Scott) Miller on April 9, 1999 in Oberlin, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Pearl Leighty.

Survivors include his wife, Janice of Imperial; daughter Lana, and husband, Craig Oltmans of Holdrege; three sons, Dennis Kurth of Colby, Kan., Allen Kurth, and wife, Diane of Colby, Kan., Troy Kurth of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Johnny Miller, and wife, Roxane of Imperial; three brothers, Lyle of Dalton, Howard of Sidney, and Darold, and wife, Jeannie of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Marva, and husband, Al Smith of Cheyenne, Wyom., and Connie, and husband, Bob Buxbaum of Bayard, Neb.; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and childhood friend Sharon, and husband, Gene Waite of Sidney.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 (MDT) at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, with the Rev. Todd Burpo officiating. Internment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home in Imperial.

A memorial has been established in his name.
