Pete Horkey

INDIANOLA -- Pete Horkey, 88, died Thursday (March 17, 2005) at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.

He was born Jan. 30, 1917, in Indianola to Rudolph and Justina (Vlasin) Horkey. He grew up on the family farm south of Indianola and graduated from rural school.

He spent his life farming the Indianola community before moving to McCook in 1948. He has resided at Hester Home in Benkelman since 1981.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Horkey on March 24, 2000; and an infant brother, Ronald Horkey in 1909.

Survivors include nephew, Ben Horkey and wife, Doris of McCook.

There will be a private inurnment at a later date in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Indianola.

Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
