Frances M. "Fritz" Hormel, 93, died Friday (Oct. 22, 2004) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born Dec. 27, 1910, at Trenton, to Charles H. and Willa (Benjamin) Hinkle. She attended Trenton High School and the University of Nebraska where she was a member of the UNL Rifle Team and Kappa Delta Delta Sorority.

She taught in Trenton schools until her marriage to Robert F. Prest June 5, 1935, in Trenton. They made their home in Hastings until moving to McCook in February 1938. The couple owned and operated Bob Prest Drug Store, which later became Farrell Drug, from 1945-1970. Robert preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1982.

On Sept. 5, 1987, she married Benjamin F. Hormel. He preceded her in death Oct. 15, 2002.

She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church since 1946. She also was a member of St. Ann's Guild and is a former Vestry member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include son, Bob Prest and wife, Jan, of Goodyear, Ariz.; daughter Billie Rouzee and husband, John of North Platte; step-daughters, Anabeth Cox and husband, Ted, and Mary Sue Harris and husband, Bill, all of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Samuel Williams officiating. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials are being accepted and friends may sign the guest register at Herrmann Funeral Home.
