Sister Estelle Kilbane

SPRINGFIELD, Ky. -- Sister Estelle Kilbane OP, 88, died Sunday (Sept. 4, 2004) at Sansbury Care Center on the grounds of St. Catharine Motherhouse near Springfield, Ky. She is a native of Chicago, Ill.

A Dominican of St. Catharine, Ky., for 72 years, she served as a teacher, parish minister, librarian and assistant principal at St. John Berchman in Chicago. She also taught as Sacred Heart in South Bend, Ind., St. Joseph in Mattoon, Ill., St. Patrick in Missouri Valley, Iowa, Our Lady of Peace in Chicago and St. Michael in Orland Park, Ill.

She served as a teacher and principal at both Nativity and St. Louis in Memphis, Tenn., and at Our Lady of the Wayside in Arlington Heights, Ill. She served as administrator of St. Catherine Hospital in McCook and Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine.

Survivors include her sister, Sister Patricia Kilbane OP of Chicago and nieces and nephews.

Services were Wednesday at the Sansbury Chapel.
