GREELEY, Colo. -- Aletha "Sue" Sughroue, 74, died Monday (Aug. 9, 2004) at the Hospice and Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Greeley, following a lengthy battle with acute leukemia.

She was born Nov. 19, 1929, at La Junta, Colo., to Arnold and Nora (Menter) Muller. She graduated from East High School in 1947 and was an eligibility supervisor for the Weld County Department of Social Services for 31 years.

On Oct. 30, 1948, she married Dana E. Sughroue at Greeley.

She was involved in PTC, 4-H, FHA, the Colorado Welfare Systems and Business Association, Merry Mixers, 085 Mobile Squares, Good Sams Club, Young At Heart, Newborn Caps for Monfort Nursery, Bright-Beginnings-Warm Welcome, Kersey Senior Center and served as an election judge. She also was named the RSVP-2002 Volunteer of the Month and to the 2004 Senior Hall of Fame.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald L. Muller; and a son-in-law, Roy L. Fox.

Survivors include her husband, Dana of Greeley; two daughters, Carol S. and husband, Fred Ley and Mary K. Fox, all of Kersey; a sister, Marguerite Christie of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several extended family members in Southwest Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, 10 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Greeley. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The rosary will be recited Sunday, 7 p.m., at Adamson Memorial Downtown Chapel.

Visitation is Sunday, 2-6 p.m., at the funeral chapel.
