MEDFORD, Ore. -- Effie Davis, 91, died Wednesday (July 7, 2004) in Medford, Ore.

She was born Feb. 20, 1913, to Morton and Marion (Spier) Search in McCook. She graduated from McCook High School in 1931. She worked at St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook as a nurses aid. She played organ at the Fox Theater for many years and also played the organ at the former McCook Air Base during the 1940's. She taught classes at McCook Beauty Academy in the late 1950's.

In 1961, she married Gordon Davis. In 1966 the couple made their home in Elwood.

She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971; two sisters, Luana Van Alstine and Greta Coder; brothers, Harold and Ray; and a grandson.

Survivors include a son, Wallace "Wally" Jennings of Medford, Ore.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday, 11 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Chapel in McCook. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday, 9 a.m., until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Diabetes Foundation.
