HENDLEY -- Jeri Grace Hyke, 46, died Wednesday (June 30, 2004) at her home in Hendley.

She was born Nov. 14, 1957, to Edgar Nehemia and Florine Annette (Jewett) Osborn in Bristol, Conn. She moved to Garden Grove, Calif., with her parents. The family later moved to Fontana, Calif., and then to Orlando, Fla. They then moved to Beaver City, where she attended high School.

On March 18, 1977, she married Ricky Eugene Hyke at the Methodist Church in Beaver City. The family moved to Hendley in 1983.

She attended nurses training at the Central Nebraska Community College in Kearney, becoming a licensed practical nurse in 1990. She was employed with Beaver City Manor, the Walker Post Manor in Oxford, the Correctional Center in Norton and the Methodist Memorial Homes in Holdrege. In September 2001, she was diagnosed with Guilliain Barre syndrome.

She was preceded in death by her father Nov. 25, 1990; and her father-in-law, Robert Hyke Sept. 12, 2002.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky of Hendley; two daughters, Lindi Hyke and her special friend, Troy Meyers of Norton and Morgan Hart and husband, Michael of Deer River, Minn.; her mother, Florine Osborn of Beaver City; three brothers, John Osborn and wife, Cheryl of Holdrege, James Osborn and wife, Betty of Columbus and Jay Osborn of Portland, Ore.; sister, Joanne Chesterman and husband, Bruce of Bertrand; mother-in-law, Juanita Hyke of Beaver City; and three grandchildren.

Services were today at First United Methodist Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Robert E. Berlie Sr., officiating. A private inurnment will be at a later date.

Banta-Torrey Funeral Home of Alma was in charge of the arrangements.
