BEAVER CITY -- Robert Dale Bonham, 93, known as Dale, died Saturday (May 29, 2004) at the Beaver City Manor in Beaver City.

He was born March 17, 1911, at Beaver City to Robert Austin and Bertie (Chitwood) Bonham. He lived in Beaver City until 1913, when the family moved to Missouri for 11 years. They returned to Beaver City in October of 1924. He attended Beaver City schools.

On Dec. 27, 1932, he married Wilmetta Arnold of Edison in Beaver City. He farmed most of his life north of Beaver City, later near Cambridge and then west of Beaver City and Bloomington. He returned to Beaver City in 1954. He also worked a variety of other jobs including the ammunition plant in Grand Island, Edison Hay Mill, Kansas State Hospital WC Flemming, Jerry Warner Dirt Construction and was a custodian at the Furnas County Court House. In 1996 the couple moved into Beaver City. Later they moved to Beaver City Plaza then to Beaver City Manor and Assisted Living.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Beaver City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; sister, Helen Fitzgerrald and great-granddaughter, Jenny Slater.

Survivors include his wife, Wilmetta of Beaver City; four daughters, Shirley and husband, Bud Slater of Hays, Kan., Bertryl and husband, Wayne Seybert of Longmont, Colo., Judy and husband, Dr. Larry Cass of Norwood, Minn., and Bonnie Culver of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Leola Lane of Yucca Valley, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

Services were today, 10 a.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City with the Rev. Phil Olsen of First Christian Church of Beaver City officiating.

Memorials can be given to First Christian Church, Beaver City Plaza, Beaver City Manor and Assistant Living or the donors choice. These can be given through Wenburg Funeral Home.
