Ruth Crocker Goen

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Crocker Goen, of Fort Valley, Ga., were Saturday, May 15, 2004, 1:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Fort Valley, with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Goen passed away peacefully on May 13, 2004, at the age of 82. Born in McCook, she was a graduate of Red Willow High School. Mrs. Goen attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, Kan., and graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Topeka, Kan. She was a flight nurse during World War II serving in the China-Burma-India Theater.

Mrs. Goen retired from the State Health Department as a Family Planning Nurse Practitioner.

She was a member of the Philanthea Sunday School class, the Thirty Niners Senior Citizens Group and the Senior Adult Choir. Mrs. Goen was also a member of the St. Francis Hospital Nursing Association and a past member of the 17th district nurses association.

Survivors include her son, Robert P. Goen Jr., of Montgomery, Ala.; three granddaughters, Allison Lee (Jeff) of Austin, Texas, Beth Marshall (Chris) of Huntsville, Ala., and Sara Allen (Casey) of Montgomery, Ala.; four great-grandsons, Jonathan Lee, Ben Marshall, Christopher Allen and Hixon Allen; her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Harlan Grafel of Herndon, Kan.; also sisters-in-law, Betty Crocker (Mrs. Don) and Gladys Crocker (Mrs. Leo).

Mrs. Goen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Goen Sr.; daughter, Susan Marie Goen; parents, Fred and Agnes (Behnke) Crocker; two sisters, Irene and Ida Marie; and four brothers, Joseph, Francis, Don and Leo.

Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley was in charge of the arrangements.
