ARAPAHOE -- Lora Colleen Horton, 86, died Wednesday (April 7, 2004) at the CA Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.

She was born Oct. 20, 1917, to Claude L. and Millie (Shepherd) Taylor in Gosper. She graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1936.

On Oct. 15, 1936, she married Van H. Horton in North Platte. She worked for a couple of years at the Williams Brothers Store. Later, the couple operated the Fairmont Ice Cream Shop of Arapahoe. She also spent many years bookkeeping for Arapahoe Ready Mix, which the couple owned for many years.

She was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church of Arapahoe and the Eastern Star Renee Chapter 212 of Arapahoe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Van; daughter, Sunny Ann Horton; two brothers, Marvin and Clayton Taylor; four sisters, Ethel Steinbrink, Eva Jameson, Nora Shaw and Meredith Taylor.

Survivors include two sons, Dan H. and wife, Verna Raye Horton of McCook and Jerry D. Horton of Arapahoe; daughter, Colleen and husband, Lyle Weber of Arapahoe; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Hyeongdong Baek officiating. Interment will be in Arapahoe Cemetery.

Visitation is today, 2-8 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe.
