Dorothy Marie (Hinz) Kalthoff

YUMA, Ariz. -- Dorothy Marie (Hinz) Kalthoff, 69, died Feb. 18, 2004, in Yuma, Ariz.

She was born March 1, 1934, to Emil and Charlotte (Kunkee) Hinz in McCook. She spent her childhood in McCook and attended St. John's Lutheran school in McCook. She homeschooled for her GED.

On June 24, 1956, she married Lavern William Kalthoff at St. John's Lutheran Church in McCook. She was a homemaker and then was employed at JC Penney until her retirement. The couple resided in Yuma.

She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Yuma, where she was an active member of the LWML and Sunday School treasurer for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lavern on Aug. 14, 1999; and infant daughter, Lynn Marie Kalthoff.

Survivors include daughter, Laurie Howard of Miami, Okla.; four brothers, Robert Hinz, Donald Hinz and wife, Barbara, Alvin Hinz and wife, Melva and Kenneth Hinz, all of McCook; and two grandchildren.

Services are Friday, 10 a. m., at Calvary Lutheran Church in Yuma with the Rev. Steve Sanderson officiating. Interment will be in Trenton at a later date. Memorials may be given in her name to the Calvary Lutheran Church Building Fund, 711, Seventh Avenue, Yuma, AZ 85364.

Desert Lawn Memorial Park and Johnson Mortuary in Yuma is in charge of the arrangements.
