Herman G. 'Pete' Wolters

LUDELL -- Herman G. "Pete" Wolters, 80, died Monday (Nov 17, 2003) at the Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.

He was born July 2, 1923, in rural Rawlins County to Gustav J. and Bertha (Castens) Wolters. He was a lifelong resident of the Ludell area.

On Sept. 1, 1945, he married Joan M. Wolkensdorfer at Wakeeney, Kan. He was a farmer and carpenter. He owned and operated a trenching business and worked for Atwood Lumber Co. and Finley Construction for many years.

He was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan on March 29, 1994; and one brother, Henry Wolters.

Survivors include four daughters, Suzanne Irene Hodge and husband, G. C. Jr. of Bolingbrook, Ill., Sally Joan Wolters of Topeka, Kan., Jane Carol Brubaker and husband, Gary of Bird City, and Jill Ann Wolters and husband, Michael Turner of Topeka; one brother, Gus and wife, Elsie Wolters of Oberlin; two sisters, Margaret and husband, Glen Mishler of Wichita, Kan., and Dorothee Wolters of Oberlin; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Redeemer Evangelical Church in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Burial will be at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and Thursday 9 -11 a.m. at Brantley Funeral Home and beginning at noon Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Rawlins County Health Center Hospice Room.
