WAUNETA -- Eleanor Petr, 88, died Wednesday (Oct. 8, 2003) at the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home in Wauneta.

She was born Jan. 1, 1915, to Albert and Clara (Jirousek) Janda in Lawrence. She attended country school and was only able to attend one year of high school.

On April 20, 1937, she married Henry John Petr in Lawrence. The couple settled on a farm west of Lawrence. In 1947, the couple moved to a farm north of Wauneta, where they resided for more than 40 years. Her husband died in 1988 and she returned to Wauneta.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. John's Altar Society, the Garfield Club, Bridge Clubs of Wallace and Wauneta and the Sunshine Extension Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; and one brother, Edward.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita Hendrix of Grand Junction, Colo.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 10:30 a.m. (MDT), at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Greg Pawloski officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.

The rosary will be recited Friday, 7 p.m. (MDT), at the church.

Visitation is Friday, 2-6 p.m. (MDT), at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
