Evelyn I. Perry

Holdrege -- Evelyn I. Perry, 92, died on Monday at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

She was born to Jens Christian and Anna Sophia (Petersen) Anderson on Dec. 12, 1908, in Red Willow County, near Quick. She was the youngest of six children. Her childhood was spent on a family farm in Red Willow County. She graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1926. She then continued her education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

On Dec. 25, 1928, she married Ernest Lewis Perry. The couple had four children. They made their home in Cambridge and then Bertrand before moving to Holdrege. She was a homemaker and taught music for many years. After the death of her husband Ernest Perry in 1962, she married Phil Erickson of Holdrege.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege and was active in various community services.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Ernest Lewis Perry in April of 1962 and Phil Erickson in July of 1993; a brother, Andrew Anderson; four sisters, Laura Rogers, Carrie Groves, Daisy Behnke and Frances Heaton; and one grandson, David Bates.

Survivors include three daughters, Francis Bates and husband, Arthur of Lincoln, Karen Baker and husband, George of Hastings, and Merry Johnson and husband, Gary of Holdrege; one son, E. Bill Perry and wife, Susan of Holdrege; a brother-in-law, Richard "Dick Mulliner of Holdrege;13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege with the Reverend Melva Tranmer officiating. A private family inurnment will precede the services at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, Holdrege Memorial Homes or The Tassel Phelps County Performing Arts Center.

The Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements.
