Genevieve (Heble) Vrbas

ATWOOD, Kan. -- Genevieve (Heble) Vrbas, 91, died Thursday (Sept. 20, 2001) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

She was born Aug. 11, 1910, at Niles, Kan., to Robert and Elizabeth (Greiveldinger) Heble. She attended the Queen of Driftwood country school through the eighth grade. On Oct. 20, 1937, she married James L. Vrbas at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood. They made their home in Atwood. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Rawlins County Hospital and the Good Samaritan Center nursing home. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the St. Rita Ann Circle of the Christian Mother's Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim in 1985; two sons, Gene in 1979, and James in 2000; one son-in-law, Leon Lippold in 2000; one sister, Irene Ksiazek; and two brothers, Leo and Pearl Heble. Survivors include her children, Bob of Denver, Colo., Tom and wife, Janet of Berthoud, Colo., Carolyn Rachac and husband, Gordon of El Cajon, Calif., Jerry and wife, Kathy of Atwood, Mike and wife, Polly of San Diego, Calif., Cathy Lippold of Atwood, and Terry and wife, Donna of Mankato, Kan.; one sister, Elizabeth Rieke of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; one brother, Robert Heble of Kansas City, Kan.; one brother-in-law, Tom Ksiazek of Kansas City; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial services will be Tuesday, 9 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.

A parish vigil and Christian Mother's Rosary service is tonight, 7 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood.

Visitation is tonight until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in her name.
