Ruben 'Red' Melvin Wach

GREELEY, Colo. ? Ruben ?Red? Melvin Wach, 87, formerly of Hayes Center, died Sunday (Dec. 23, 2001) at the Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley. He was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Hayes County to Herman Julius and Anna Karolina (Schulz) Wach. He graduated from Hayes Center High School, and attended college in Kearney. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He received the bronze star. He drove a truck for DLW Trucking in Fort Collins, Colo., for a number of years before starting his own lawn mower repair business. He was an active member of the senior center in Fort Collins, a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruby Banks; and one brother, Herman Junior Wach. Survivors include two sisters, Vera Lyon of Salem, Ore., and Irma Karoline McGrath of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Fred Wach of Greeley; four nephews; and three nieces. Graveside services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the Hayes Center Cemetery with the Rev. David Kroeker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in his name to the American Cancer Society in care of AFS, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
