Cecil F. Stacey

SELDEN -- Cecil F. Stacey, 79, died Friday (Jan. 4, 2002) at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1922, in Mingo, Kan., to Tom and Anna (Reel) Stacey. He was raised in Mingo and Jennings and then moved to Selden in 1931. He attended school at Selden.

He served in the U. S. Army in the European Theater during World War II

In 1941 he married Dorothy Spannigal.

On April 20, 1947, he married Marietta Wilcox in Omaha. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 30 years. He lived in Colorado, Iowa and Kansas during his career and returned to Selden upon his retirement.

He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Frank and Gene Young and Joe Beal; and three sisters, Ada Tate, Mae Maske, and Josie Shuler.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta Stacey of Selden; three sons, Terry Stacey of Minneapolis, Minn., Jerry and wife, Linda Stacey of Hutchinson, Kan., and Thomas and wife, Dorothy Stacey of Selden; three daughters, Dorothy and husband, Jim Lourance of Lakeview, Ore., Loraine and husband, Steven Kalvig of Grafton, Iowa, and Barbara and husband, Mitchell Thofson of Kingman, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Selden with Rev. Yockey L. Jones officiating. Interment will be at the Selden Cemetery.

Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 until the time of the service. Memorials may be given in his name.
