CAMBRIDGE -- Violet R. Nelson, 83, died Jan. 9, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center in Hastings.

She was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Adams County to John and Elizabeth (Trientje) Boltjes. She was a graduate of Cambridge High School.

On Oct. 28, 1952, she married James H. Nelson of Sioux Falls, Iowa. She worked for Bankers Life in Des Moines, Iowa for 10 years. Following retirement, she and her husband returned to Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; a half-sister; and an infant son.

Survivors include her husband, James H. Nelson of Cambridge; one son, Steven and wife, Betty Jo Nelson of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Jeanette and husband, Manny Hayden of Kimball; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services were Friday at St. Paul's Cemetery at Glenvil with the Rev. Dana Keener officiating.

Lockenour-Jones Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
