Gladys F. Cotton

BARTLEY -- Gladys F. Cotton, 94, died Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 13, 1907, on the family farm north of Bartley to Karl and Della (Hart) Bauer. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1925 and received her normal training endorsement from Kearney State Teachers College. She taught school in Frontier and Red Willow counties for eight years.

On March 18, 1936, she married Alfred James Cotton. They farmed northeast of Cambridge until retiring in 1989. They then made their home in Bartley. Alfred preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2001.

She was a member of Kemper United Methodist Church of Bartley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; eight sisters, Leta, Ruth, Alice, Esther, Corinne, Mabel, Gertrude and Olive; and one brother, Kenneth.

Survivors include one son, Gerald and wife, Carol Cotton of Cambridge; one daughter, Alfreda and husband, Gary Branson of Gypsum, Colo.; four brothers, Carl Cotton of Stromsburg, Harold Cotton of Canby, Ore., Lawrence Cotton of Kearney and Truman Cotton of Franklin; three sisters, Dorothy Harder of Canby, Grace Kutz of Eugene, Ore., and Elsie Casten of Central City; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Revs. Art Phillips and Truman Bauer officiating. Interment will be at the Bartley Cemetery.

Memorials may be left in her name at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.
