Mabel Elizabeth Humes

OBERLIN -- Mabel Elizabeth Humes, 92, died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.

She was born April 13, 1909, to John H. and Katherine (Thiringer) Wolfram in rural Decatur County. She attended District 39 School.

On April 14, 1934, she married Frederick Humes in Smith Center, Kan. The couple resided in Colorado before moving to Traer in 1942. She was a postmistress.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; two sons, Sherman and Donald; one brother, Ralph Wolfram; and two sisters, Ruth Ketterl and Arlene Ecker.

Survivors include one daughter, Audrey and husband, Robert Law of Garden City, Kan.; one daughter-in-law, Gisela Fisher of Oberlin; one brother-in-law, Lester Ketterl of McCook; two sisters-in-law, Esther Thomas of Dalhart, Texas and Betty Harden of Goodland, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Pastor Keith Reuther officiating. Interment will be in the Traer Cemetery.

Visitation will be today until 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service time at Pauls Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in her name to Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.
