Elizabeth 'Betty' T. Wirth

NORTH PLATTE -- Elizabeth "Betty" T. Wirth, 83, died Monday (March 25, 2002) at Bryan LGH in Lincoln following heart surgery.

She was born May 21, 1918, to Frank and Anna (Henner) Neuhalfen in Nebraska City. She graduated from Dunbar High School. She worked in Washington, D.C. for the War Department during World War II.

On June 18, 1947, she married Fran Wirth in Tampa, Fla. The couple were dairy farmers around Dunbar and she worked as a floor lady for Pendleton Woolens in Nebraska City. They moved to McCook in 1969 and owned a motel until 1976.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Fran; three sons, David and wife, Cynthia Wirth of Andrews AFB, Md., Stan and wife, Cheryl Wirth of Beatrice, and Stephen Wirth and companion, Deborah Burns of Lincoln; three daughters, Suzanne Wirth of Denver, Colo., Connie Alegria of North Platte, and Kathy and husband, Richard Giddings of Shakopee, Minn.; two brothers, William Neuhalfen of Utah, and Andy Neuhalfen of Chesterfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be Monday, 2 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte.

There is no visitation.

Memorials may be given in her name to the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment.

Carpenter Memorial Chapel of North Platte is in charge of arrangements.
